This is a very nice example (very good over-all condition) of the much sought-after Omega 600 in all stainless steel with a screw-down steel case-back.
The watch features a very unusual dial. Instead of the usual applied white metal Omega logo, the black dial on this watch features the Omega logo in
red and
red cross-hairs quartering the dial.
There is a date aperture at 3 o'clock and I believe the dial and the white metal hands are original to the watch.
The movement is Omega Calibre 611 is manual-wind and 17 jewels, adjusted to 2 positions. The serial number 24048xxx dates the watch to approximately 1966 or 1967.
Inside the case-back it reads
136.001. The back of the case features the Omega hippocampus Seamonster and the original owner's name,
H. Hillemeir, MD, inscribed in a most rudimentary fashion.
Signed three times (case, dial and crown), this is a
very pretty watch.
Fitted with a period-correct steel expansion bracelet, it is keeping excellent time and is ready to wear.
$449 plus actual carriage.
